Fred Heisel, Jr. Grant-In-Aid Award
Dear Student,
Thank you for your interest in the Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. “Fred Heisel Jr.” Grant-In-Aid Award. The purpose of the Fred Heisel Jr. Grant is to provide financial assistance to deserving males who are GREATER CINCINNATI RESIDENTS and who have been ACCEPTED to an institution of higher learning. Unlike other financial aid programs, the Fred Heisel Jr. Grant is an award to help defray the cost of achieving a secondary education or vocation.
Qualification for this award:

Applicant must be a male high school senior

Applicant must have at least achieved a cumulative GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale

Applicant must have an official transcript

Applicant must have a letter of acceptance from an institution of higher learning
-
It is encouraged that applicants have a letter of recommendation

Applicant must have a photo of identification to upload a picture of (Preferably High School yearbook photo or ID)

If selected for an interview, professional attire is mandatory for all applicants.

Decision Criteria:
The Foundation’s Scholarship Committee of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. will determine recipients of the Fred Heisel Jr. Grant. This decision will be based upon:

An in-depth interview in which we will explore four key areas:

Scholarship, and

Community Service.

Q: How much are the scholarships? Are they full scholarships?
A: Scholarship amounts will vary by recipient score on our rubric.
Our scholarship is not a full scholarship, and is to be used as a supplement to any grants,
Aid, and other scholarships to pay for tuition and other college related expenses. The
use of funds is at the discretion of the parents and student.
Q: Is the scholarship one-time or renewable?
A: The scholarship is a one-time allotment to help with first-year costs.
Q: What do I do if I have a scheduling conflict with one of the dates above?
A: Please contact us ahead of time so that we can make arrangements. Scheduling conflicts
Will not prohibit consideration from a scholarship.
Q: Are there any costs associated on behalf of the student?
A: There are no costs for our applicants/recipients.
Q: What is the professional attire expected for the interview?
A: Suit, dress shirt, dress shoes and tie. If no suit available, dress shirt/dress pants/dress shoes and tie.
